AB Bank Limited dominated the transaction chart of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday while Grameenphone (GP) was the most-traded issue on the port city bourse.
Five most-active shares in terms of value on the DSE were AB Bank, GP, Bangladesh Building Systems, Quasem Drycells and RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh).
According to statistics available with the DSE, some 13.32 million shares of were traded, generating a turnover of over Tk 254 million. It was 4.04 per cent of the DSE`s total turnover value.
The bank`s share price hovered between Tk 17.70 and Tk 19.40, before closing at Tk 19.40 on Thursday, surging 9.60 per cent over the previous day.
The bank`s (un-audited) third quarter earnings soared nearly 147 per cent year-on-year in July-September, 2016 period. Consolidated earnings per share (EPS) from July-September, 2016 stood at Tk 0.37 as against Tk 0.15 for the same period a year ago.
In nine months from January-September, 2016, the bank`s consolidated EPS stood at Tk 1.84 as against Tk 1.40 for January-September, 2015.
Consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 44.46 for January-September, 2016 as against Tk 7.70 for January-September, 2015. Consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 35.99 as of September 30, 2016 and Tk 31.57 as of September 30, 2015.
The bank disbursed 12.50 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2016.
The bank`s paid-up capital is Tk 6,738.94 million and authorised capital is Tk 15,000 million while the total number of securities is 673,893,614. The bank`s total market cap stood at Tk 11,927.92 million as on Thursday.
The sponsor-directors own 36.58 per cent stake in the AB Bank, while government owns 0.57 per cent, institutional investors own 29.32 per cent, foreigners 1.48 per cent and the general public 32.05 per cent as on October 31, 2016, the DSE data showed.
AB Bank was, followed by GP with 684,451 shares worth nearly Tk 194 million changing hands. The largest market cap listed company`s share closed at Tk 283.90 each, advancing 1.14 per cent over the previous day.
Bangladesh Building Systems was the third on the DSE transaction list with 3.69 million shares worth Tk 174 million changing hands. The company`s share price fell 3.86 per cent to close at Tk 46.40 each.
Quasem Drycells emerged as fourth with about 1.75 million shares of Tk 172 million changing hands. The company`s share closed at Tk 100, gaining 1.83 per cent.
RAK Ceramics was the fifth on the DSE turnover list with 2.66 million shares of Tk 163 million changing hands. The company`s share soared 4.75 per cent to close at Tk 61.80 each.
On the other hand, five most-traded stocks in terms of turnover value on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) were GP, Square Pharmaceuticals, AB Bank, Fortune Shoes and RAK Ceramics.
According to statistics from the CSE, some 118,238 shares of GP were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 33.42 million. The lone listed mobile phone company`s share price rose 1.36 per cent to close at Tk 283.80 each on the port city bourse.
Square Pharma was the second with 89,356 shares worth Tk 22.09 million changing hands. The company`s share closed at Tk 246.60 each, shedding 0.56 each over the previous day.
AB Bank was the third on the port city bourse`s turnover chart with 814,198 shares of Tk 15.39 million changing hands. The bank`s share price jumped 9.71 per cent to close at Tk 19.20 each.
Fortune Shoes was the fourth with 263,174 shares of Tk 12.06 million changing hands. The recently listed shoe maker`s share closed at Tk 46.10, advancing 6.71 per cent.
RAK Ceramics was the fifth on the CSE`s transaction list with 178,334 of Tk 10.92 million changing hands. The company`s share price rose 3.89 per cent to close at Tk 61.60 each.
