A stunning spin bowling show from teenage sensation Mehedi Hasan Miraz powered Bangladesh to a historic 108-run win over England in the Dhaka Test on Sunday.
England had won all previous nine matches against their South Asian rivals but were all out for 164 in their second innings while chasing 273 for victory on the third day of the second test at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, report agencies.
A century stand between the England openers Alastair Cook and Ben Duckett apparently put England in a comfortable position before tea.
But after the break 19-year-old Miraz tore through the England toporder before Shakib grabbed three in an over to put them on the brink of an epic win.
Miraz picked out Steven Finn with a lbw to seal the victory in three days to send the hosts and the boisterous home crowd in spasms of delight.
Miraz finished 6-77 in the second innings to return 12 wickets from the match by virtue of his 6-82 in England`s first innings. His wicket tally stood a tall 19 wickets from his first two Tests after grabbing seven on his debut in Chittagong.
The dominating win was only their eighth in 95 Tests, first against England and any top-tier Test nation. It gives the Tigers hope and their fans faith of making a turnaround in the illustrious form of the game.
A total of 17 wickets fell on the third day and 10 of them were in the final session.
