Biman Bangladesh Airlines suspended six officials of its engineering and technical department over the technical glitch on the prime minister’s aircraft.
Six suspended officials are: SM Rokonuzzaman, Samiul Haque, Lutfur Rahman, Milon Chandra Biswas and Technical Officer Siddiqur Rahman, the flag carrier said in a statement on Wednesday, reports bdnews24.com.
A flight carrying Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina at an airport in Turkmenistan on Sunday made an emergency landing due to technical glitch.
The PM and her entourage had to spend four hours at the Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan on their way to Hungary after the emergency landing.
Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon said, an inquiry into the technical glitch found that negligence of Biman Bangladesh Airlines officials.
While revealing the initial findings to the media, he said ‘human failure’ was identified as the key factor.
“The (Biman) management said that five or more officials will be suspended over the human failure factor,” he told reporters at his office on Wednesday.
Twenty minutes later, Biman issued the statement suspending six officials.
