The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has received Tk 9.52 billion in income tax in the first three days of the weeklong tax fairs across the country.
Also, some 627 taxpayers obtained user identification number (ID) and password from tax fairs to file online tax returns.
The finance minister inaugurated the online tax return system on November 1, 2016 to help taxpayers file tax returns without visiting tax offices.
With an aim to provide the taxpayers with user ID and password, the NBR has opened some new booths at the tax fair venue at its under-construction building in the city`s Agargaon area.
On the third day, the revenue board received Tk 2.27 billion in income tax and 24,864 tax returns from the tax fairs across the country.
The NBR received a total of 61,607 tax returns in the last three days from tax fairs.
Some 18,800 people got online taxpayers` identification numbers from the tax fairs in the last three days.
Also, a total of 325,893 people were provided with different services from the tax fairs across the country.
A total of 45 students from Udayan High School took part in a quiz competition `tax education forum`. An educational institution will participate in the forum every day in the tax fair.
However, there will have a break for Juma prayers from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Friday.
The tax fair will remain open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm until November 7.
The NBR arranged complementary shuttle bus, e-filing booth, bank booth and tax calculator to help taxpayers in the tax fairs.
