Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend the BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit to be held at Goa of India.
She is scheduled to leave for Goa on Sunday morning, reports bdnews24.com.
The 8th BRICS summit will be held on Oct 15 and 16. The theme of the Summit is “A partnership in Opportunities”.
The Outreach Summit is being organised at the sideline of BRICS Summit to be convened on 15-16 October 2016.
India is the current chair of the five-country group, BRICS, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, accounting for 42 per cent of the world population and a combined GDP of over $16 trillion.
Bangladesh is a member of the Bay of Bengal initiative, BIMSTEC.
The prime minister will join the summit with other state leaders, such as Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazilian President Michel Temer, South African President Jacob Zuma and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Other BIMSTEC representatives attending the summit are Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Maldives President Abdulla Yameen.
After her arrival at Goa on Sunday, Hasina will attend a luncheon with BIMSTEC leaders hosted by Goa`s chief minister.
She is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Russian President Putin and her Bhutanese and Thai counterparts the same day.
In the evening, she will be attending a retreat with the other BIMSTEC leaders.
Later on Sunday, Hasina is expected to hold separate meetings with the prime ministers of India and Nepal.
The prime minister will return to Dhaka on Monday.
